CYB.ORG 2nd Year MFA Exhibition

Scavenger, an animal that feeds on carrion, dead plant material, or refuse;

A person who searches for and collects discarded items.

The apparent difference between a treasure hunt and a scavenger hunt is that the former is a search for something of universal value, whereas the latter is a search for something with local value. Admittedly, both values are fictions.

So let’s go on a hunt. The list of clues are here, in this space. The artifacts defy cohesion, they only function as clues. You figure out what you’re looking for.

The Messiah Triangle

Continuing our Critical Aesthetic Series, the UAG is pleased to present an experimental film project, The Messiah Triangle, by Michael Moshe Dahan. Judaism, Christianity, Islam: three major religions whose messianic impulses have resulted in some of world history’s greatest and most violent conflicts as both religious and nationalist wars. The Messiah Triangle interrogates these conflicts through the refractive, multifaceted, diamond-like prism of one individual born at the intersection of Israel and Palestine: actor-activist Juliano Mer-Khamis.

Each a Different How

Through unique characters and settings, and across animation and painting, Each a Different How operates in the place between frames. With reference to cartoons and film, the works present familiar surroundings and mundane encounters charged with a sense of movement, sequence and narrative.

Personal Effects

Personal Effects is an exhibition of new works by Ian Dolton-Thornton. These include ballpoint pen drawings, a carpet and a lover’s knot formed with the US Consumer Price Index expenditure categories. The exhibition addresses how materiality and function shape places in daily life.
