Alexandro Segade

Alexandro Segade is an interdisciplinary artist whose queer world-building proposes speculative identities. Segade’s opera Star Choir, co-created by Malik Gaines, was developed at the Park Avenue Armory, NYC, and produced by The Industry at the Mount Wilson Observatory, LA, in 2023; a film version premiered at the Hammer Museum, 2024. Segade’s collective My Barbarian had a career survey exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art in 2021. The group’s work has been presented at Institute of Contemporary Art, LA, Museum of Modern Art, NY; The New Museum, NY; and others. Segade’s graphic novel The Context was published by Primary Information, 2020, Segade's writing has appeared in Artforum, Panorama, and Broadcast. Segade is assistant professor of art at University of California San Diego.
